Whitefish River First Nation Members Securely Cast their Vote Using Scytl Online Voting

Ontario, Canada, April 7, 2015Scytl, the worldwide leader in secure online voting, election modernization and eGovernance solutions today announced that the Whitefish River First Nation utilized Scytl Online Voter Registration and Scytl Online Voting to provide its members with an alternative to the traditional registration and voting methods for the recent Matrimonial Real Property Law.

Scytl Online Voter Registration and Scytl Online Voting made it more convenient for voters to register and enabled them to securely cast their ballots online from anywhere on any internet-connected device. The Scytl solution also provided voting receipts to allow members to anonymously verify that their vote was recorded by the system as cast.

“Providing end-to-end security and ensuring voter privacy were essential requirements for the online registration and voting solution we selected,” said Nishin Meawasige, Whitefish River First Nation Band Manager. “The Scytl platform provided the highest level of security.”

Many of the Whitefish River First Nation members live outside Whitefish River and it can be difficult getting to a polling station. With the Scytl solution, they were able to register and vote from anywhere on the device of their choosing.

“We are very pleased to have provided members of Whitefish River First Nation with a secure and convenient way to vote on this recent Matrimonial Real Property Law” said Meawasige. “The Whitefish River First Nation has joined a growing number of First Nations in providing additional voting channels through Scytl Online Voting.”
