In 2019, the National Election Committee (NEC) of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and the Ministry of Federal National Council Affairs (FNC) used Scytl’s election technology in their third electronic parliamentary elections. Scytl had already worked with the Ministry during the previous two FNC election cycles, in 2011 and 2015.

To ensure the security and transparency of the 2019 elections, Scytl deployed its state-of-the-art cryptography in more than 1,000 e-voting kiosks located in 39 polling stations across the seven emirates, ensuring total privacy and confidentiality of voters when casting their ballots.

In addition, 411 computers and laptops were deployed to allow poll workers to verify the identity of voters through personal electronic IDs. Scytl provided this entire system in the Arabic dialect of the Persian Gulf and configured it to be read from right to left, as is customary in the language.

The consolidated results were announced only 13 minutes after the close of voting.
