Scytl will host the symposium “Empowering Voters and Poll Workers with Disabilities: New technologies for Election Leaders” on May 14 at the Mid-America Club in Chicago. Attendees include representatives from the Chicago Mayor’s Office for People with Disabilities, the Disability Rights Bureau at the Office of the Illinois Attorney General, city and county election officials, and disability advocates.
More than 35 million voting-age people in the United States are individuals with disabilities and less than half of them voted in the 2012 general election. Although there have been great strides in making elections more accessible since the Help America Vote Act (HAVA) was signed into law, there is still work to be done.
Scytl’s symposium presents insights to city and county election leaders and disability advocates on election and citizen engagement technologies that empower individuals with disabilities.
