In support of the Europeans Throughout the World initiative to help support citizens overseas participate in democratic processes on equal terms, Scytl shared insight on past and current projects deployed across the globe that have allowed overseas voters to securely and privately vote online, enabling an increase in participation by providing voters with a more convenient and timely voting channel.

The outdated voting channels used by most Europeans abroad has had a direct impact on a decrease of election participation. As a result, the interest and demand for online voting for disenfranchised voting communities such as those overseas continues to grow, though it is not necessarily new. Secure and verifiable online voting has been taking place since 2004.
