Scytl’s Internet voting project in India receives the 2011 eWorld Forum Award

The Internet voting project implemented by Scytl in the State of Gujarat has received the 2011 eWorld Forum Award. This Indian state, with a population of 50 million people was the first state to implement Internet voting in public elections in India. The first online elections under this 5-year project were successfully carried out in September 2010. A second round of online elections took place in March 2011, during Gandhinagar’s Municipal Corporation elections. The 2011 eWorld Forum Award rewards the best innovative projects in the field of eGovernance. The eWorld Forum 2011, launched by Shree Kapil Sibal, India’s Minister of ICT, was organized by the Centre for Science, Development and Media Studies (CSDMS) and Elets Technomedia Private Limited in association with the Indian Department of Information Technology (DIT), the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, and the Department of Science and Technology.
