The European Patent Office grants Scytl a new patent in the electronic voting field

Dec 29, 2008

The European Patent Office (EPO) has granted Scytl a patent that protects the proprietary cryptographic protocols developed by Scytl to guarantee vote integrity, voters’ privacy and election auditability in Internet voting. The patent also protects the generation of voting receipts to allow voters to individually verify the inclusion of their votes in the final tally. This same patent had already been granted last year in the United States by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. Scytl currently holds the largest portfolio of patents and patent applications worldwide in the e-voting security field.
