Barcelona & Dubai, October 6, 2015 – The UAE Ministry of Federal National Council Affairs deployed the advanced voting system provided by Scytl, the worldwide leader in secure online voting and election modernization, for the successful execution of the Federal National Council Elections 2015. Noted as the world´s first fully-electronic national election, it recorded a 119% increase in participation with the final results announced in a record time of just over 30 minutes.

The Federal National Council Elections, launched by UAE President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan and supported by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, aimed at promoting political participation across the UAE.

His Excellency Dr. Anwar Mohammed Gargash, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Minister of State for Federal National Council Affairs (FNC) and Chairman of the National Election Committee (NEC), said: “The FNC Elections 2015 has been a huge success by all standards. With an increase of over 119% in the total number of votes cast and an increase in female voters reaching 38.94% compared to 32.57% in the 2011 election, we are well on the path of leveraging technology for continued citizen engagement and participation.”

The FNC placed its trust in Scytl and its election experts and technology to deliver an efficient, secure and transparent election process, supporting the UAE´s vison of building a strong election modernization foundation as the country strives for gradual universal suffrage.

“After working with Scytl in 2011, we were confident that their global electoral expertise and proven technology would help us successfully conduct the 2015 elections, as well as anticipate and resolve any potential issue that would arise,” said HE Tariq Hilal Lootah, Under-Secretary of Ministry of State for Federal National Council Affairs and Head of the Elections Management Committee.

Scytl provided an end-to-end electronic election platform that included, among other solutions, automated voter check-in though national ID, electronic voting, electronic results consolidation and online publication and dissemination of election results.

“It is a privilege to work hand in hand with the UAE and the NEC and their leading role in the Gulf region in the leverage of innovation across all fields including elections via secure and transparent electronic voting technology and processes.
